A thought for Consideration

A thought for consideration, 11.10.2020

I remember one hot summer Sunday morning we arrived at church to discover our air conditioning in the sanctuary was not working. However, God had blessed us with a very large and new a/c unit for the fellowship hall, and it just so happened that we had a piano there that was in tune.

We just relocated and began to worship. Sitting in that circa 1876 building with all the modern conveniences, I had to ponder what it was like to worship in this same building without all the upgrades of “civilization”.

Did that group of disciples complain like we do? Did someone say that morning, “I’m not going to church today, it’s too hot.” Or did someone say, “I am not going to church today, it’s too hard to hitch the wagon anyway, and the mules need a day off too.” Or maybe someone said, “I am not going to church today, I still have to slop the hogs and milk the cows.”?

Any one of those excuses, in that day, would have truly been legitimate at least compared to our reasoning to skip church Worship today.

So we have been given an excuse. The government says you can’t go to church. So we Americans of the Battle of Lexington and Concord, the Siege of Boston, Valley Forge, The Battle of Camden, etc., have decided that the government “of the people” is now the government “for the people to obey”? We now like lap dogs cower and hide over an oppressive “mandate” without law to back it with?

Our Christian forefathers came to this continent under the Providential guidance and Sovereign Authority of God our Father, to the glory of Jesus Christ, to escape religious persecution and government interference in worship. They started the greatest, most powerful country ever in the history of the world, by a bunch of rag tag God fearing farmers, hunters, entrepreneurs and adventurers…that included women and children.

And today, with moon hopping, air flying, drag racing, and mudslinging vehicles, we can’t, or won’t go to church because someone who “works for us”, said stay at home until we say come out!!?? How dare they.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day, of which I am one, and I am ashamed of the mentality of my fellow citizens of a free and God formed country that the United States of America IS. Free men and women have fought and died for the freedoms we take for granted today. Tyranny has once again raised its’ ugly head.

It’s time someone, by prayer and supplication, chop off that head and reform this Great Republic of God honoring states and peoples.

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25 NLT
